description Take the Virtual Tour! - BUTTERMILK FALLS STATE PARK Buttermilk Falls State Park takes its name from the foaming cascade formed by Buttermilk Creek as it flows down the steep valley side toward Cayuga Lake. The upper park has a small lake; hiking trails through woodlands and along the gorge and rim; picnic areas; and playing fields. The lower park has a campground, stream fed water fall, and playing fields, beyond which is Larch Meadows. Larch Meadows is a moist, shady glen and wetland area, through which a nature trail winds. Park activities, including tours through Buttermilk gorge, are offered weekly from July 4th through Labor Day.

importantInformation Campground Improvements for 2016-17!! New Rustic Cabins will be added to the campground. Assembly and construction will take place during the early part of the 2016 season. For further information please contact the park directly. Swimming to open in late June! Check back for status updates. Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. See HERE for all current swimming closures! To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. CAMPSITES Reservations for campsites may be booked 9 months in advance for a 1-night minimum stay. 2 sleeping tents maximum or 1 camping unit and 1 small tent per site. There is a 2 week maximum rental period for both campsites and cabins all the time. CABINS Cabins require a 2-night minimum stay during non-peak season. During Peak season, the minimum stay for cabins is 7 or 14 days only and run Saturday to Saturday. Smoking is NOT permitted in any cabin. Tents are not permitted in the cabin area. Cabins are rustic, with no bedding, no cookware, and no heat. Portable heaters of any kind are not permitted PETS Only 2 pets per site are permitted. Pets must have current rabies certificate. Pets must be on a 6 foot leash and attended to at all times. Pets are NOT permitted in the swimming area. During peak season, a camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous days. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 2 days before registering again for another site.
